About Eve A. Wood
Life and Executive Coach, Integrative Psychiatrist
Your Well-Being Champion
Eve A. Wood, M.D., is an internationally esteemed coach, psychiatrist, teacher, award-winning author, keynote speaker, and leader in the field of integrative medicine. She has always been a doctor’s doctor, an empathic coach, and a well-being champion to all who know her. Every position she has held for the past 35 years has involved coaching others to realize their potential!
She has been a professor in numerous settings, the medical director of an eating disorder center, a methadone maintenance and addiction treatment center, a general psychiatry center as part of a hospital, and one that was freestanding. She has been the chief medical officer for a large group of mental health facilities in Colorado, and most recently was the medical director of integrative services at Centura Health, a large health system in Colorado. In that role she was responsible for physician well-being, and the coordination of care across many aspects of a large health system.
She chose to leave Centura after three years, due to her increasing concerns about the “care model” as it currently exists. In her first two-and-a-half years at Centura, she saw patients for 6,599 clinical appointments, while in her earlier years of practice, she might have had that many visits in 10 years! Her experience at Centura is reflective of changes in the system nationwide. There is minimal time for your doctor to get to know you and sort best options with you. And, there is no time to create a life plan, and partner with you to realize your full potential.
Dr. Wood has been in practice, nonstop for 35 years. She has written and presented all over the world, and even spent a year and a half in New Zealand as a senior medical consultant to the behavioral health system there. She has made her mark in the field by working to bridge body, mind, and spirit in an empowering model of whole-person healing. She is a Well-Being Champion!
I have seldom been so moved by a book. This is the only healing model that makes sense.C. Everett Koop, M.D., Sc.D.
A leader in the field of integrative psychiatry, Dr. Eve Wood artfully blends medical science with a unique, holistic approach to mental well-being. She displays a true gift for weaving together conventional, complementary, and alternative medicine in a manner that is practical and easy to understand. This book is for anyone seeking a whole-person approach to anxiety, distress, or depression. Buy it for yourself or for someone you love.Tieraona Low Dog, M.D.
Dr. Wood has authored three books and two self-help kits; has won numerous awards for her writing (including the Benjamin Franklin Award for Best New Voice: Nonfiction for There’s Always Help; There’s Always Hope); was back-page feature columnist for Massage Therapy Journal (taking over for Bernie Siegel, M.D., when he retired); has been a radio host on Sirius Satellite Radio and Hay House Radio; was a professor at a number of institutions, including six years at the Integrative Medicine Program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine; and much more.
But most of all, she is a deeply ethical and passionate human being who is concerned about her clients, friends, and colleagues. She is committed to supporting integrative and intuitive healing, and has chosen to join with others in naming the sickness in our current medical model. Her decision to become a Well-Being Coach comes from the moral imperative that she must share what she knows and do whatever she can to promote health, well-being, resiliency and personal autonomy.
Learning to control emotions is both difficult and rewarding, probably one of the most important steps to attain optimum health of both mind and body. Dr Eve Wood has authored a detailed and practical guide to help you do it. I recommend this book and am completely in agreement with the philosophy behind it.Andrew Weil, M.D.
Dr. Wood’s publications
Dr. Eve Wood shines a gentle light on the complex world of emotional health and reveals a path to healing. She offers a broad range of options and shows you how to use them wisely. I recommend this excellent resource for dealing with life’s challenges, big and small.Victoria Maizes, M.D.
Eve Wood helps us understand how the journey from wounded to healing must integrate all elements of one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual life. Although many believe that these diverse elements must all be integrated for true health, Wood describes a model that is unique in its clarity.
